PROJECT OVERVIEW

Plans for a new 153,000 sq ft warehouse facility were granted consent in June 2016 to St. Modwen’s popular Centurion Park industrial development in Tamworth.

Centurion Park is located adjacent to junction 10 of the M42, and is one of the most sought after locations for warehouse and distribution operators in the Midlands.

With Bowmer & Kirkland Building Services appointed main contractor, the earthworks package was awarded to DNS with proposed works scheduled to commence in stages over a 7 month period in September 2016.

Following careful planning and consideration of water management – which was a big concern, site clearance of shrubs and natural vegetation were undertaken followed by an average 225mm topsoil strip which was preserved for the ‘landscape mound’ area.

The prospective building and external areas were cut and filled and stabilised to the required levels using cement and quick lime to create a CBR of 30%. An addition 10,000 tonnes of MOT type 1 material was imported and spread over the stabilised plateau to a layer of 75mm.

A balancing pond was excavated by GPS controlled machinery and surplus material was used in landscaping areas.

With completion expected in spring 2017 the site will home the 153,000 sq ft warehouse along side the currently occupied 53,000 sq ft DFS warehouse. Other high profile occupiers at Centurion Park include AAH Pharmaceuticals and Speedy Hire making it a highly sort after distribution base.
