The project was to create 5no wetland areas to help with general flood waters in the South Elmsall area.
Works began by stripping and stockpiling topsoil materials from reuse. Creation of the sub-strata of the wetlands was completed in traditional earthworks methods.
To create the embankments to the wetlands soil stabilisation technics were used. However, as the project had a large surplus amount of topsoil a new technology was utilised from Holland.
The product of Powercem was installed into the topsoil stabilisation to create a strong water resistant material.
The embankments and base of the wetlands were completed in one continues stabilisation operation, to ensure the structure acted as a containment cell.
